I am always excited to work with children and adults who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. I have specialised in this area for a number of years and have a wealth of experience working with this population. I have experience with all ages from babies as young as a few months old to young adults. I have worked in signing environments and auditory-oral environments, and everything in between. Through hands-on experience working with clients and collaborating with Audiologists and the Cochlear Implant team at BC Children’s Hospital, I have gained in-depth experience with hearing aids and cochlear implants. I also believe in the importance of the Deaf community, Deaf culture, and have an intermediate level of proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). I always enjoy keeping up with the literature and research in this area – it’s my passion!
Over the last seven years I have completed internships or worked at:
I support all communication options and have experience with auditory, oral, sign, and total communication approaches. I believe there is no one right method for everyone; every situation is unique and needs to be treated accordingly. I take the time to get to know your child, your family, your child’s strengths, challenges and learning style. I use this information to help you choose the communication approach that is best for your child and to support you after that decision has been made. For adults, I am happy to support you in whichever communication mode you have chosen.
